Graham Irvine

Position on the Thornlie Christian College Board:
I joined the Board in 2005 and have held the position of Chairperson since that point in time.

Qualifications:
Bachelor of Education, Diploma of Teaching, Master of Education, Graduate Diploma of Divinity, currently completing a Master of Divinity, Certificate 4 in Training and Assessment

My working career has been in the Education sector firstly as a Secondary teacher and then as a Primary School Principal. (My role at the time of joining the Board.) While I am not currently teaching I have maintained my connections with education through Christian Schools Australia and of course TCC.

Lennon Smart

Position on the Thornlie Christian College Board: Director since 2017

Qualifications: BA (English and Journalism), Diploma Counselling, Certificate IV Leadership

Lennon attended Thornlie Christian College for over a decade graduating as College Head boy in 2008 with a scholarship entrance into University.
Since graduating Lennon has completed his Bachelor’s Degree, Diploma and Cert IV.  He began his career at Perth Christian Life Centre (2009 – 2015) in various roles from Operation’s Manager to Event Coordinator, he then moved to Murdoch University (2015 – 2017) as the Campus Sports Development Officer before landing at Lakeside Baptist Church and Recreation Centre (2017 – 2019) as their Youth and Young Adults Pastor . In 2019 Lennon made a corporate move with his career and currently holds one management position at the University of Western Australia as a Program Manager and 2 management positions at Lakeside Recreation Centre as the Marketing Manager and Game Day Manager.

He has a passion for excellence, change and progression as well as a personal interest in Basketball having coached in the Western Australian Basketball League (2009 – current) and more recently was appointed as a Men’s Semi Pro Team (MSBL) lead Assistant Coach in the State Basketball League (2015- current), coaching the Lakeside Lightning as well as representing Western Australia as a State Under 20’s assistant coach (2017 – 2019).

Shane Madden

Position on the Thornlie Christian College Board: I am new to the Board in 2017

Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Medical Imaging Technology & Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Sonography.

I am a family man, father of three boys, with an interest in biblical apologetics. I am an experienced senior medical sonographer in both private and public health sectors with experience in management and tutoring. I also have experience running a small home business and I am currently embarking on the development of a health service company. I have a passion for helping children from struggling backgrounds.

Pastor Renier van der Klashorst

Pastor Renier van der Klashorst

Position on the Thornlie Christian College Board:  I have been on the Board since 2015

Qualifications: Master of Divinity, Master of Theology,

I am currently serving as Senior Pastor of Thornlie Church of Christ and have led a church plant in Mackay whilst working as Area Chaplain for Scripture Union Queensland.
I am married with three children attending TCC.

Trevor Beard

Position on the Thornlie Christian College Board: Thornlie Church of Christ Elders Representative since 2011.

Qualifications: Diploma in OHS and Training and Qualified Tradesman in Carpentry and Shop Fitting.

Moved to Perth from the Queensland in 1998, have 3 children all married and all were home schooled through the ACE system. Have been a follower of Christ for over 40years and in that time served on many Church Boards in a variety of positions. Currently am the Regional Manager for MMM Australia a mission that “Serves those who Serve”,  I also work in a secular job as a Perway Welder Offsider with Brookfield Rail. As a member of Thornlie Church of Christ have watched Thornlie Christian College grow from small beginnings to one that has great respect in the community for its Christian World View which is evident throughout all aspects of the College’s life.

Rodney Olsen

Rodney Olsen

Position on the Thornlie Christian College Board: I am the Vice Chairman and have been a Board member since 2011.

Qualifications:

I am married to Pauline and have two children who attended and graduated from Thornlie Christian College. My background is as an experienced communicator, having worked in radio for over 25 years as well as writing and consulting for television programs on both the Seven and Ten networks. I have gained valuable insights into education while working for the Education Department for a number of years and have previously been a board member of Bible Society in Australia (WA) and have served on the National Council of Bible Society in Australia.

Currently I am a Relationship Manager with Compassion Australia working to release children from poverty in Jesus’ name. This role gives me the opportunity to relate to a diverse range of Christian churches and I am part of the leadership at Southern River Church of Christ
